Parsons - William

Dr. William Parsons was born on the 14th day of September in 1819 and died at an early age (44 years 7 days) on September 21, 1863.  In his short time on earth, he married two sisters, fathered three children and practiced medicine in the Mace area.  He lived alone in the 1850 census, but married Elizabeth Crane (born April 14, 1833) on October 3, 1852.  The Parsons were thrilled with their two babies, Clara Jane and Oscar, but saddened at their son's death (at eight months old).  The Parson's threshold was darkened by death once more as Elizabeth died August 15, 1856, not yet 24 years old.  The good doctor found love again with Elizabeth's sister, Sally Ann (married November 28, 1857).  The couple had one daughter, Minnie Elizabeth.  After the death of both parents (Sally just after the 1860 census on August 6, not yet 21 years of age) and the doctor's death as per above, the two young Parsons daughters were raised by their maternal grandparents, Jehial and Letitia (Wilson) Crane.  Ironically, both girls grew-up and married doctors (Dr. Robert Long and Dr. H.M. Vaught).  Dr. Parsons and his two young wives are buried in the Parsons' Cemetery, Walnut Township, Montgomery County, Indiana.
